Hello Folksters and Friendlies :)

WOW, Happy 2010 everyone, The Oldest Child has had a busy busy start to the year! Since the amazing New Years Eve Party out in Lindsay, ON with the The DGB, Elephant Blanket, Homefront and Daniel Greer; No time has been spared in getting the ball running for 2010.

January 2010

Quickly after ringing in the NEW YEAR it was off to Toronto to join The Danger Bees and Leah Erbe at the very Peterborough-esk-inviting Rancho Relaxo [300 College St.].

Just a week later, January 15th 2010, The Oldest Child joined local rockers FATAL ASSEMBLY, Hostel Takeover, and Troy Thompson and The Kismet Kulprits in Toronto once again for a Peterborough evening at Duffy’s Tavern on Bloor St.

January 23rd, 2010 marked a day of music and benefit in the Peterborough area, and The Oldest Child was very proud to be a part. The 1st Annual Musical Fundraiser for CF in Peterborough included 7 venues and many local musicians/bands donating their time and talents. On January 28th, 2010, The Oldest Child found himself taking the stage at The Historic Red Dog as part of Winter Rawkfest. Back to the event where The Oldest Child first took the stage! The line up included: The Oldest Child, Why Bother Thinking, Shattered Reality, Citizen Hollow, Mystic Kick, At Falls End and Hostel Takeover! February 2010

So February comes around and well darns it, here we go again!

February 4th, 2010 marked a new opportunity for The Oldest Child to entertain and hone his talents on a weekly basis. Beginning every Thursday, since Feb 4th, The Oldest Child can be found entertaining the patrons of The 2nd Floor Lounge [172 Simcoe St. Peterborough] from 10pm – 1:30/2:00pm; playing cover, requested and original music. Special guests are always welcome to take the microphone.

February 5th, 2010, The Oldest Child joins good friends FrailFragment, Social Cyanide, and Troy Thompson and The Kismet Kulprits at The Spill Café for an evening of varied musical genres ranging from Folk, Punk to Grunge and Hard Rock! A great evening!

February 12th, 2010 marked the first time The Oldest Child had the pleasure of entertaining the pool playing crowds of Pappas Billiards in downtown Peterborough. Lindsay, ON rockers The DGB and local group FREEWATER rounded out an excellent evening of music in an intimate atmosphere; not too mention FREE pool!

Lastly, many folks find it tough to attend concerts. Well The Oldest Child was on TV! If you tuned into TV Cogeco – February 18th or 19th, Channel 10 in Peterborough, You would have caught Lee showcasing Junction 28. An independent weekly music program showcasing local talent and all original music! Other acts included in the weekly program include: Missy Knott, Sam Ferguson, Melissa Payne, Dave MacQuarrie, Alyssa Morrissey and Nikki & Keith of Western Avenue.

The Oldest Child Update November 2009

Hey Friends :)

Wow it has been a busy busy FALL here in Peterborough, ON! How has your FALL been?

It has been since August that I have sent out a true update about The Oldest Child, and now that the seasons are changing and the music and school are becoming less demanding, I would like to share with you that past few months.

As of writing this I am proud to announce that in this short existence The Oldest Child has surpassed 6500 Myspace hits and acquired over 1000 fans on Facebook. And seriously, I would like to thank each every one of you who took the seconds and/or minutes to even think about me, vote, or fan me - Thank you

After wrapping up THE AUGUST RUSH TOUR back in Mid-September with Andy Cotter at The Spill (http://www.myspace.com/andrewcottersounds); The Oldest Child took to the stage at THE GROOVE LOUNGE (http://www.leskratchoshawa.com) with many other great indie bands as part of BREAK YOUR BAND 2009 held by SUPERNOVA (www.supernova.com). This was a great show and I met many great folks and hopefully nabbed a few new fans!

In most recent news, THE OLDEST CHILD needs your VOTE again! As part of the
BREAK YOUR BAND 2009 band competition TOC took the stage at The Atria in Oshawa, ON with the likes of 9 other acts! THE OLDEST CHILD is still in the running for THE WILDCARD VOTE!

Back in October TOC found himself playing with many other great bands for some very excellent causes. On the 22nd of October TOC, HOLLOWPOINT, BRANE, FAITH OF A MARTYR, and BRANE rocked very hard to help out a great up and coming fashion designer make her way to Vancouver Fashion Week!

October 23rd found TOC sharing the stage with other great acts; TONKA PUMA, ANDREW VINCENT and AVERY ISLAND to support SOUNDTRACKED VOLUME ONE at The Green Bottle, Oshawa, ON (Sadly -the bottle has closed its doors). Coming into early November; TOC, DUKE MACINTOSH, THE DEAD LETTERS and TROY THOMPSON and THE KISMET KULPRITS took to The Spill (www.thespill.ca) in Peterboroough, ON. This concert was so great, and super well received :) A great night with beer friends and even CAKE! Check out the pictures and VIDEOS!

This show also celebrated the first appearance of THE OLDEST CHILD on the RADIO! TOC was on FRESH NEW ROCK 92.7fm on September 30 with Kate S. and I hope this will be the first of many on air appearance.

In line with this, THE OLDEST CHILD along with many other great local artists took part in a Trent Radio Studio C Lullaby project! AUTUMN LULLABY was recorded accapella. The lullaby will be added to the player very soon :) A big thank you to Jill Staveley for footing the entire bill on this project - from recording to press! And congrats on your new wonder!
