January/February 2010 Update

Hello Folksters and Friendlies :)

WOW, Happy 2010 everyone, The Oldest Child has had a busy busy start to the year! Since the amazing New Years Eve Party out in Lindsay, ON with the The DGB, Elephant Blanket, Homefront and Daniel Greer; No time has been spared in getting the ball running for 2010.

January 2010

Quickly after ringing in the NEW YEAR it was off to Toronto to join The Danger Bees and Leah Erbe at the very Peterborough-esk-inviting Rancho Relaxo [300 College St.].

Just a week later, January 15th 2010, The Oldest Child joined local rockers FATAL ASSEMBLY, Hostel Takeover, and Troy Thompson and The Kismet Kulprits in Toronto once again for a Peterborough evening at Duffy’s Tavern on Bloor St.

January 23rd, 2010 marked a day of music and benefit in the Peterborough area, and The Oldest Child was very proud to be a part. The 1st Annual Musical Fundraiser for CF in Peterborough included 7 venues and many local musicians/bands donating their time and talents. On January 28th, 2010, The Oldest Child found himself taking the stage at The Historic Red Dog as part of Winter Rawkfest. Back to the event where The Oldest Child first took the stage! The line up included: The Oldest Child, Why Bother Thinking, Shattered Reality, Citizen Hollow, Mystic Kick, At Falls End and Hostel Takeover! What a great evening put on by RAWKSPACE Promotions/Entertainment (www.rawkspace.com)

February 2010

So February comes around and well darns it, here we go again!

February 4th, 2010 marked a new opportunity for The Oldest Child to entertain and hone his talents on a weekly basis. Beginning every Thursday, since Feb 4th, The Oldest Child can be found entertaining the patrons of The 2nd Floor Lounge [172 Simcoe St. Peterborough] from 10pm – 1:30/2:00pm; playing cover, requested and original music. Special guests are always welcome to take the microphone.

February 5th, 2010, The Oldest Child joins good friends FrailFragment, Social Cyanide, and Troy Thompson and The Kismet Kulprits at The Spill Café for an evening of varied musical genres ranging from Folk, Punk to Grunge and Hard Rock! A great evening!

February 12th, 2010 marked the first time The Oldest Child had the pleasure of entertaining the pool playing crowds of Pappas Billiards in downtown Peterborough. Lindsay, ON rockers The DGB and local group FREEWATER rounded out an excellent evening of music in an intimate atmosphere; not too mention FREE pool!

Lastly, many folks find it tough to attend concerts. Well The Oldest Child was on TV! If you tuned into TV Cogeco – February 18th or 19th, Channel 10 in Peterborough, You would have caught Lee showcasing Junction 28. An independent weekly music program showcasing local talent and all original music! Other acts included in the weekly program include: Missy Knott, Sam Ferguson, Melissa Payne, Dave MacQuarrie, Alyssa Morrissey and Nikki & Keith of Western Avenue.
